Morning visit Kamakhya Temple and later drive towards Bhalukpong via Tezpur, crossing into Arunachal Pradesh (Inner Line Permit check en route).
Bhalukpong sits on the banks of the Kameng River at the foothills of the Himalayas – a scenic overnight halt before heading further into the hills.

Drive to Dirang via Bomdila, with a stop at the Sessa Orchid Sanctuary en route (seasonal).
On arrival, visit Dirang Dzong (old fort) and, if time permits, the Sangti Valley – known for its black-necked cranes in winter.

Approx. 140 km / 6-7 hrs drive
Drive over the dramatic Sela Pass (13,700 ft), pausing at Sela Lake and the Jaswant Garh War Memorial en route.
Descend into the Tawang valley by evening and check in to the hotel.

Full-day excursion (permit required, arranged in advance) to Bum La Pass on the Indo-China border (approx. 15,200 ft).
En route, stop at PT Tso Lake and the Y-Junction War Memorial.

Evening free to explore Tawang town and, if time allows, Tawang Monastery – the largest in India.

Long scenic drive down from the hills to the plains of Assam, via Tezpur and Nagaon, arriving at Kaziranga by evening.

Afternoon jeep safari in the Western or Eastern Range in search of rhino, wild elephant, swamp deer and, with luck, the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Board the overnight Guwahati – Sairang Express (via the newly opened Bairabi–Sairang line) to Sairang, the railhead for Mizoram’s capital.
